This time of year, people love to spend as much time outside as possible – at least the warm-weather lovers amongst us. That means in addition to your weekend pool parties and get-togethers, when folks are going on a date or meeting a friend, they are also fond of outdoor dining.

Due South Barbecue is happy to oblige the outdoor dining demand with our covered picnic tables adjacent to our building. Leave up the umbrella for some shade or close it up if, like so many blooming annuals, you prefer full sun.

BBQ Is Perfect for Outdoor Dining!

Not every food lends itself well to outdoor dining. While we all love something fancy on occasion, it doesn’t necessarily translate well to the outdoors. You don’t want to worry, your gorgeous little entrée is going to blow away on a breeze!

Likewise, when dining al fresco, many people feel silverware should be optional. Maybe it’s from being used to eating on rickety tables that wobble too much from cutting, or it’s just more fun to eat with our hands.

Regardless of your reasoning, BBQ naturally lends itself well to outdoor dining in Roanoke. Wings, ribs, and bone-in chicken are already finger foods! Sandwiches are made for two hands, and even our chopped brisket takes just one fork since it’s already bite-sized!

And our memories of backyard barbecues come flooding back as the warm breeze lifts the scent of delicious smoked meat to our noses. But when you’re getting your BBQ here, you don’t have to worry about handling the cooking, drying out the meat, or any of the clean up!

Easy Parking

While there are many fine dining establishments downtown and elsewhere in Roanoke, one of the nice things about Due South’s location right on the border of Roanoke and Salem is that, in addition to being easy to get to, we have an ample parking lot!

Not Too Near the Street

Sometimes, when smaller, more intimate restaurants add outdoor dining, there’s not a lot of space for it. So they put two or three tables on the sidewalk, where you’re a few feet from cars driving by and a few inches from pedestrians walking (and smoking) beside you.

Another advantage of our outdoor dining is that our tables are far from the street, so you never feel like you’re sharing space with a vehicle that may or may not be going a few miles over the speed limit!

Entertainment

Due South doesn’t always have live music, but we do occasionally have a band playing, so check before you arrive if you’re interested in knowing whether there will be any evening entertainment.

Don’t Worry, We Have Indoor Seating Too!

By the way, lest we turn off the indoorsy, we want to be perfectly clear – we have plenty of indoor seating too! If all you want is an air-conditioned oasis as a respite from the humid Southwest Virginia summer, our booths and tables are always available. And of course, dinner takeout is always a popular option.
